Virtual architecture tour part 1 ~Visit Baku between Western Europe and Asia~

Azerbaijan, a 27-year-old young country independent of the Soviet Union in 1991, is a small country with a quarter of Japan, but is enriched with Caspian oil money.
In fact, Japan is the major donor country in this country.
A country that has strong economic ties with Japan. There is a great relationship here.

Let's visit in such Azerbaijan's capital city Baku with Googlemap for you.

First of all, the most notable modern architecture. Heydar Aliyev Center built by Zaha Hadid. It was built in 2012. Azerbaijan's religion is Islam, but to me this curve looks like a hejab of cloth wrapped around an Islamic woman.
Because Zaha was from Baghdad, Iraq, and he himself was also Islam, he may have been strongly in love with this place.

You can see the landscape in Street View. In Japan, I would like to make a tree, but here there is no Takagi at all. There is only a colorful snails, gentle stairs and a vast lawn. The center buildins is always visible in the distance, so you can walk and swell your expectations.

Inside is a meteor-like illumination, again with curved walls and ceilings.
You can see the whole picture well if you look at the pictures of Iwan Baan.

Next is the main spot when visiting Baku. It is the walled city Baku, the Sylvanshire Palace, and the Maiden Tower, which are listed as World Heritage Sites.
MaidenTower is located on the coast, with a view of the city from the old town. Let's climb together.

HOK(ヘルムース・オバタ・カッサバウム)によって建てられました。

There are no high-rise buildings yet. The only distantly visible curved skyscraper is BakuFlameTowers.
It was built by HOK (Helmus, Obata Cassavaum). It is the fourth largest architectural design office in the world as an organizational design office in the United States. It has a shape that you will never forget if you look at it once with an iconic. The night seems to glow right like a flame by lighting.

Next, take a look at Heydar Aliyev International Airport Baku at the airport.
If you go inside with Street View, you can see something like onions.
What is this? Lol
A 40-person office based in Istanbul called Autoban designs the interior, and the architecture is by ARUP.
This Autoban was established in 2003, and this airport was created in 2014!
I assigned an airport that is the face of the nation to such a young office!
I feel the strength of Azerbaijan that creates opportunities for young people.
I also want to put out a competition of Azerbaijan. Lol

But, does Zaha really treat that curve like Hijabs analogy? As I was walking along the city of Baku (on GoogleMap), I found a great building!

what! That shape is!

Vadim Shulgin, R. Sharifov | Mirvari cafe | Baku, Azerbaijan | 1962

This is a cafe created by Soviet modernism in the 1960s. It is still being repaired, and the original application is continued and operated! Cool!
The park by the sea is full of people. You should walk.

A shape that does not change from old days!
Of course, I think Zaha knew the existence of this building before visiting Baku. I think that she was fascinated by the curvaceous beauty that has never changed. I am convinced only within my thinking that the idea of Zaha is also here.
The mist in me was a little clearer.
If you look closely at this shape, do you look like Sydney's?

It is the Sydney Opera House of Jon Uzzon from Copenhagen, Denmark. I think he also likes Soviet modernism. Or, strategically, against Aero Salinen, who was a judge of the Sydney Opera House,

There is a possibility that only the drawing will be issued in accordance with the idea that the sirlinen loves curves. Lol
Whether it was Utzon or Saarinen, did attachment to this curve flow to the northern European countries of the neighboring countries via Soviet modernism? Where did the curve of Soviet modernism come from? Zaha has been strongly influenced by Russian Avant Garde since the early days of unbuild. We come out in various ways as we delve into our ideas. I will not be able to finish writing, so I will finish it this time!

【Summary of Baku Architecture Tour】
It is very interesting that the town of Baku, which is said to have existed since the 5th century, develops while controlling the landscape well while taking care of the new and old ones and the two that can be called offensive and defensive.
It is an attractive city that I want to focus on in the future.

A food like bread wrapped rice called ShakhPlov (3:00) in this video looks very delicious!
I can not eat at first in Japan. I want to eat someday ...!
